Donna Lachance (sunnyshots)  > Family > July-September 2007 > Remodel resources
After years of watching remodels on TV, we had the chance to experience it real life as we updated our 1984 ranch home prior to moving in. The kitchen was the biggest project, since we basically replaced everything. The process was bumpy and frustrating. Despite that, we are thrilled with the end product, and we worked with some great people along the way. Here are the primary resources from our new kitchen. If you are doing a kitchen remodel in Atlanta, I would recommend any of these resources.

Overall kitchen design by Nonnie Bowers of Home Depot on Roswell Road in Marietta, GA. Her design was the most creative of the three I commissioned, and I am very happy with the finished product. She was very responsive and great to work with. Working with Home Depot does involve extra process delays compared to working directly with a cabinet-maker. Initial estimate from order to completion was 6 weeks, actual was 11 weeks (with final punch items 4 weeks after that), but the kitchen is lovely and very well installed. Installation was done by PNB Construction, Home Depot's partner. Their work was painstaking and very high quality.

Cabinets by Thomasville Cabinetry, Plaza Square design in Whiskey-Glazed Cherry. I liked being able to look at all the styles and accessory options online to help me decide which I wanted, and I have been happy with the quality and beauty of the cabinets.

Oil-rubbed bronze "ribbon and reed" pulls from Cainet Hardware Designs on EBay http://stores.ebay.com/Cabinet-Hardware-Designs). If you can find a style you like, Ebay prices for cabinet hardware are a great deal.

Granite from Granite and Marble Solutions of Alpharetta (http://www.graniteandmarblesolutions.com), Santa Cecilia pattern with a 1/2 bevel edge. I can't say enough good things about this firm. Their prices were lower than Home Depot/Lowe's, their lead times were much shorter, and they were incredibly flexible and responsive to work with. Nothing but positives about them.

Floors are quartersawn and rift white oak in varying widths of 3", 4" and 5". Custom made for us by AAA World Flooring, the retail arm of Olde Savannah floors http://www.oldesavannahflooring.com/). These guys went above and beyond to give us very special floors, and we heartily recommend them.

Faucet and soap dispenser from Faucet Depot (http://www.faucetdepot.com), Moen Aberdeen style in oil-rubbed bronze. These guys have a great selection of brand-name faucets at prices well below local retailers, and shipped promptly. I was very happy with the quality of the product and the service I received from them.
